You can add recording
artist Sam Johnston to your collection of CD’s - “At the Altar”
While his newly
released CD does not highlight the usual Country Songs that he in noted for, it
features Great Gospel Hymnals.
To begin this CD, it
took a great deal of thought and time alone just to make the final decision of
hymns to select. It was made up of his
wives, his and his late Mother and Father’s, Bernice and Jimmy’s favorites for
which this CD is dedicated.
To mention just a few
of these are; “Using My Bible as a Road Map” “Old Brush Arbors” “Great Speckled
Bird” and “Supper Time.”
The recording was
produced and mastered by “R.O.R.” Studios, Keswick Ridge, N.B. Bev Jewett and
Andrew Waugh.
The three pictures
shown are local Anglican Churches in the Parish of Stanley. The design and packaging by Express
Duplications.com.
Accompanying Sam on
some of the Spiritual lyrics with vocals was Barb Prosser Winder and Lori
Lamey. John Jeffries played the Fiddle,
Mandolin, Dobro and Acoustic Guitar.
Bev Jewett on Bass,
Acoustic, Electric and Steel Guitars, with Andrew Waugh on Drums.
Sam has been singing
since the young age of 8. Performing
at local variety shows then in 1985 he became a member of The Capital City
Jamboree produced by the late Jim Burns at the Playhouse. He also performed on many of Aubrey Hanson’s
TV shows and concerts. Some of the
events you can take in his gentle singing are Churches, Holiday Events, Fund
Raisers or Community Shows. He is one
of the members of the Group “Classic Country” that has a show the 3rd Saturday
of each month from September through May at the “Heritage Centre” on the North
side of Fredericton or Marysville as some refer to. At their show each month three talented guests are invited that
may sing, play instruments or even tap dance.
Sam gives credit for
completing his dream to his family for their judgment and support.
Sam admits music is a
passion and that every chance he has to play his guitar and sing it gives him
great joy. When people meet and music
is added it makes the gathering complete!
